DF's finely crafted wood segment hoops will add depth of tone and character to any snare drum. Our segment hoops are made with 10 pieces of hand-selected wood and joined together with a strong finger joint that is stronger than the wood itself. CNC machined for precision and hand finished with a low sheen satin finish. The elegant but functional shape of our hoops will add an extra special dimension to your drum's look, feel, and sound.
Walnut (juglans regia) is a lighter, medium density wood marked by its striking brown color. Not recommended for heavy abuse!
Please note that our segment hoops are durable, but users should keep the following in mind:
- Wood hoops are not meant for heavy rimshot playing. After all, they are wood and not metal!
- Depending on the wood specie, moderate rimshots can be played without concern, but some denting of the wood can be expected. After all, they are wood and not metal!
- The hoops can easily withstand normal tuning ranges, but extremely high tensions should be avoided. When mounting a segment wood hoop, we suggest using two drum keys opposite of each other, and using smaller than normal increments when tightening. The same process should be used to remove the hoop from the drum.
