A sanding pad will make it much easier to sand down drumshells. Uses 5" diameter PSA sanding discs. It's 1/4" thick and is flexible to form to curved and irregular surfaces. The back has an elastic band through which you place your hand. Very handy and used at Black Swamp/Drum Foundry all the time.
